15% of our German angora bunny blended with our Icelandic.  This is the stuff we’re known for at Rhinebeck, the wool we use to make our Poetry Mittens and shawls.

We offer this in a natural white, and, because the person who manages the dye pots is rather fond of blue.. a selection of light and dark blues is almost always on hand.  But what most people are looking for are our annual Fall Foliage Skeins… never the same year to year, but always amazing.  To create the autumn colors the skeins pass through three different dye pots, and occasionally are overdyed again to create additional color depth.

We usually create two very different autumn color schemes, a bright “maple” in reds, oranges, and yellows, and “oak” which is deep bass notes of darker greens, purples, and blues fading into browns. You can order, but we don’t make any guarantees we’ll be able to fill the order.  The skeins are introduced at the Vermont Sheep and Wool Festival in October, and available at our farmstand in Craftsbury.

Description

15% of our German angora bunny blended with our Icelandic.  This is the stuff we’re known for at Rhinebeck, the wool we use to make our Poetry Mittens and shawls.

Icelandic blooms all on it’s own.. add the angora and you’re going to have extra loft and a lovely soft hand.  We suppress that on a size 2 to create a mitten that is super warm, and take advantage of it with a size 8 for the shawls.  This is a very strong, yet lofty, yarn, and a delight to work with.

When you finish your piece wash it gently in cool water, block dry flat. In the case of an indigo piece, rinse until the water runs clear, usually about 5 rinses does it.

4 oz skeins.  333 yards

3 skeins for a generous shawl
